Art and Wellbeing
Alongside my work as a therapist, I also paint. Creating art has become an important way for me to process emotions, reflect, and regulate after holding the difficult experiences that many clients bring into the therapy room.
Working therapeutically with people often means sitting with pain, trauma, grief and uncertainty. Painting provides me with a creative and grounding way to reconnect with calm and balance.
Many of my paintings are inspired by nature, including forests, wildflowers, and the sea. Nature can have a powerful calming effect on the nervous system, and I often bring this theme into both my artwork and my therapy space. The colours, landscapes and natural scenes are intended to evoke feelings of openness, peace and reflection.
Some of these paintings are displayed in my therapy room to help create a warm and calming environment for clients. Others are available to purchase.
Art, like therapy, can be a way of exploring feelings, making sense of experiences, and creating space for healing.
